Michael Schur was inspired to make A Man On the Inside after watching the Chilean documentary The Mole Agent
Tale
Charles, a retiree, gets a new lease on life when he answers a private investigator’s ad and becomes a mole in a secret investigation at a nursing home. He says: “The documentary The Mole Agent is very powerful because it evokes a remarkably similar feeling in people of all ages, ethnicities and genders.
Remake of El agente topo (2020)
I would describe that feeling very simply as: ‘I have to call my mom.’ In our show, we tried to achieve something similar with the tone: does our show fundamentally contribute to that feeling that makes us want to call our mothers? Before you know it, you’re so engrossed you just have to know who it was!
All of the characters are extremely lovable and you can recognize them so easily from a person in your life. tugs at the heartstrings and doesn’t leave you with any sad memories of “Sam” A bittersweet yet tender reminder that Father Time has no favorites
My favorite quote from the show is, “Every great thing in your life feels like a miracle when you look back.” Very poetic because it resonates with all of us. I also have to admit that it was a bit odd seeing Ted Danson in this role, especially if you’re used to him as the Cheers character “Sam,” but the very beginning “Charles”…
It’s a nice change of pace and you don’t feel guilty about watching another crime series
I hope you watch it and see and understand the daily challenges that some people in our society and in our lives face on a daily basis.
