Landman, at least one of whom works in the oil industry, explores acting as a go-between between companies and landowners. Generally, a landman’s job is to negotiate and make agreements with landowners who own mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent, essentially managing and leasing the land so they can extract oil and gas. As a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, house workers (camps), set up excavation machinery, and oversee the digging of wells, especially in remote locations. They are also parts of a Fixer, Problem Solver, and Facilitator.. as featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). For someone so focused on his goals, the inclusion of an emotionally unstable one-woman circus completely undermines the show’s purpose. Her character feels more like a distraction from the central story, adding unnecessary clutter rather than furthering his journey. The portrayal doesn’t enhance the plot, but instead makes it harder to take his determination and focus seriously. Similarly, the roles of his wife and daughter feel out of place in the series. The wife is emotionally insecure, and the daughter seems to lack intellectual depth, making her contribution to the plot negligible. The portrayal of the daughter feels particularly shallow, with her character going beyond superficial engagement and adding no value to the story. Furthermore, the fact that these characters are constantly dressed in provocative clothing seems to serve no purpose. The visuals are out of sync with the tone of the series, beyond being enticing. Rather than adding to the momentum of the plot or the characters, this approach feels like a superficial gimmick to grab attention. It’s a strange and unnecessary addition that detracts from the overall quality of the storytelling.
